Bluestone Season 3 explosive opening, new Matt Lewis interviews and more

Were you all watching last nights return to the irreverently funny Bluestone 42?
Well just in case you werent, we caught it and have prepared a short review.
Bluestone continued it's usual mix of drama and comedy with the conclusion to the explosive scene that ended season two. For those who have never seen the show, it is set among a group of British soldiers in the thick of it in Afghanistan and stars our favourite Leeds boy Matthew Lewis. Last season ended with the team heading out in their four by four only to drive across one of the bombs they spend a fair chunk of their time deactivating. We were left wondering, will our heroes survive? Answer yes, but not before some well timed gags and a tense 30 minutes of concussion jokes, cross fire and Rocket and Mac's usual immature behaviour. At times the balance between humour and tense action is lost but for the most part the characterisation carries the mismatch as most of the soldiers are usually dumbly carrying on their irrelevant conversations while they are being shot at. The short lived Padre/Nick storyline unfortunately came to a close but it was also revealed that Bird is not over Nick, a story that kind of came out of nowhere as if it was thought up last minute, yet this may continue to prove unfruitful for Bird.

Matt has been on the promotion trail and appeared on some UK shows last week. Matthew spoke with Radio Times about the explosive nature of the upcoming season:
“We have another explosion later on in the series which is the biggest we’ve EVER done. And it is Un-believable. We weren’t even allowed anywhere near it when it went off, we had to watch it from about a mile away. And even then, it vibrated everything around you.”
He adds: ”We’ve really tried to up the stakes in terms of the action and explosions this series."
The serial also had a behind the scenes look at the show which can be seen here.

In other interviews, Matt recorded some of that lovely accent for Scott Mills

He also did tv interviews for Sunday Brunch (left) and ITV's Lorraine.
On Sunday Brunch he revealed he's a leftie among other things. We are still searching for footage.

You can watch Matt's interview on Lorraine below or here and the entire show here.

MatthewLewis.com have kindly transcribed an interview he did for Mugglenet where he spoke about The Brontes.
ES: There’s this project you’ve been attached to for some time, The Brontes, do you have any knowledge as to how that’s going or if it will begin production soon?
ML: I really don’t. It was a thing that I read the script and was intrigued by it and was keen. But I’m not really sure, I’m kind of busy this year. I’ve got a couple things coming up, which I’m really excited about. I’ve got another film coming up this year, so I don’t really know if I’m going to have any time at the minute to be honest, but it’s sort of gone away at the minute. I’m not too sure about it. You probably know as much as me.
But there’s some other really good stuff coming up, I can guarantee that! Unfortunately. I’ve just spoke to Megan about it and there’s nothing that can be said at the moment. But some stuff coming!

Katie Lyons also spoke about Matt during a fan Q&A after the airing saying the following:

Matt's instagram is now public and can be viewed here.

As the series returns, the endearingly clumsy but brilliant DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) is struggling to contain his feelings for DS Camille Bordey (Sara Martins), who in turn finds herself battling the dating scene - all thanks to her well meaning mother. Officer Dwayne Myers (Danny John-Jules) attempts to hold the fort following the departure of Sergeant Fidel Best (Gary Carr), who has left Saint Marie for a new job on a neighbouring island.

But Comm. Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) is keen to step up and exercise his investigative muscles once again, much to Dwayne’s frustration. The police department also welcomes new recruit, Sergeant Florence Cassell, played by popular French actress Josephine Jobert (Sous Le Soleil De Saint-Tropez).

UPDATED: Matt Lewis: ReWatch Bluestone 42 in the UK, Preview of Knight Club

We reported here and here about a new documentary Matthew Lewis did for the BBC. Now theres a trailer for the documentary which Matt does a voice-over for. Check it out below:

A synopsis is also below:
Film following the British team at the Battle of the Nations 2013, the world’s biggest and most brutal period tournament held in the French countryside. Knight Club is the story of Rob, Dan, Gwilym and Sam, a gallant band of English and Welsh knights, who are part of the fledgling debut British team. Dressed head to toe in clanking armour and wielding mighty swords their quest is to defeat the vicious Russians, the terrifying Israelis and the aggressive Americans. This is no re-enactment, this is the real deal, and with only a few weeks training under their chainmail, is at best ambitious, at worst foolhardy. But the novice knights have that bulldog spirit and, draped in the flag of St. George, they have hope in their hearts and a Ford Transit full of axes, maces and broadswords.
The show airs on BBC Three next Monday at 9pm.

the synopsis is:
It’s Christmas Eve and the team are joined by Nick’s new number two, Corporal Gordon House, aka Towerblock, on his first tour of duty.
Captain Nick Medhurst is tasked with getting him up to speed, but as Towerblock finished top of his class on the High Threat Course, he thinks he knows it all. He soon finds out things are different in the field, even on Christmas Day. The Taliban don’t stop for Christmas and it’s up to Nick to pull the team together.

The film, entitled Dynamite: A Cautionary Tale, is a crime thriller and Evanna is rumoured (it has been listed on IMDB.COM at this stage) to be playing the wife of Ian Harding's character Max Bornstein. The summary from the above website is as follows:
NEW YORK CITY, 1968 Max Bornstein had the wit, looks and charm that would carry him beyond the typical man's troubles. He was untouchable... Yet the typical man's troubles were the least of Max's worries: He was a full-time dope fiend and a part-time father working within the underground, highly illegal pornography industry.

Magical Menagerie are reporting today that Matthew Lewis' long awaited Post-Potter film The Sweet Shop is that much closer to our viewing. The film, which premiered at the London Film Festival recently and Matt completed years ago, will be available on demand on vimeo. A brief synopsis is below thanks to MatthewLewis.Com and the film can be rented internationally for $1.49 on Vimeo on Demand here.

Despite his rock star status, the break up of Jarvis Marshall’s band has caused him to face a loss of direction, as well as the loss of his family. In need of salvation, Jarvis discovers inspiration with the help of Katie Powell, a childhood friend from the village where he grew up.
Now running her grandfather’s sweet shop, Katie’s passion for life is reignited with the return of her former crush. However, their obvious connection is threatened when Katie discovers that Jarvis is no longer the boy she once idolised.
Determined to uncover her old friend, Katie reminds Jarvis who he used to be. Meanwhile, Jarvis’ supermodel girlfriend, Simone, hires a reporter to sabotage the blossoming relationship. With the help of Katie’s jealous ex- boyfriend, Simone resorts to deceit and lies in order to keep Jarvis from Katie, but she soon discovers that she can’t stand in the way of their feelings.
The Sweet Shop is an alternative but touching take on the traditional romantic comedy, following two old friends as they face their pasts in order to look to the future. Starring Matthew Lewis (from the Harry Potter franchise), Gemma Atkinson (Hollyoaks, 13Hrs, How to Stop being a Loser), Susan Hoecke (Reef Doctors, Storm of Love).

Own Worst Enemy, a pitch black comedy about an agoraphobic man struggling to stay sane within the confines of his pokey flat as his newly formed imaginary enemy taunts and ridicules him at every opportunity. Added to this, with heavy rain pouring in through his leaky roof he becomes convinced that the local weather presenter is deliberately predicting bad weather in an attempt to flood his house. With nowhere to escape to and nowhere to hide he must remedy the situation as best he can as the line between fantasy and reality blurs.
The twins play a set of police men in the black comedy set in their very own Birmingham. A picture of the pair in their roles is above. James is far right as Constable Berrow and Oliver is far left as Constable Stroyde. Also pictured are actors Mike Baughan, Mathew Waters, and Terri Dwyer.

Matthew Lewis 'The Rise'/'Wasteland' Promotion; Several Interviews Including Innuendo Bingo!

Wasteland/The Rise starring Matthew Lewis is now out in UK cinemas and leading up to this, Matthew did several interviews, both printed and video/audio. We will be posting some interesting quotes and any videos below.

Afterwards, if you havent enough sexy Matt, you can now read interviews with the following:

F3S: How do you feel about the next movie that JK Rowling is going to be working on?
ML: I don’t know much about it. I haven’t read the book, and I’ve only glanced at the story for a moment but yeah why not? It was such a vivid world that she created, and there was so much there to explore. It was such a massive universe. I think the fans would welcome any new addition to the world. Star Wars has done it for nearly 40 years, with all their spin-offs because that the world was equally vivid. I’m sure I will see it.
Flicks and the City

Soccer Am

Matt Talks about difficult night shoots with the Belfast Telegraph:
“The long days were tough but the night shoots were the worst,” the actor admitted. In one scene, he had to punch someone. “It was tough. The sun was setting and we had 40 minutes max. Everyone was getting more stressed, and I had to work with the stuntman to punch him without punching him. I actually punched him in the nose three times and kneed him in the balls twice,” he said.

Empire Podcast Available here with Matt's interview 23:15 – 37:45. Thanks to ML.COM for the tip! Our post pic is of Matt and Rise co-star Luke Treadaway from the meetup withn Empire. Podcast now below also:

About The Rise to Digital Spy
“Rowan attracted me to it, meeting him and hearing what he wanted from it,” the former Harry Potter star said. “He didn’t want it to fall into that group of being the same old South London hoodie or football hooligan story, he didn’t want that. We don’t have any guns in it, we tried to keep it as much to his experience of growing up in Barnsley as possible.”
About fears of being re-cast for Prisoner of Azkaban:
“I shot up in height and lost a lot of puppy fat and I wondered if they were going to recast me – we were only contracted to two films at a time,” he told The Big Issue. “I thought, are they going to recast me? It didn’t keep me awake at night but I considered it a possibility.

Matthew Lewis: Fan Q&A and Video in Promo of North Run, Evanna Lynch Talks Houdini and More

Matthew Lewis has been promoting his run in Bupa's Great North Run that's coming up (you can find out how to donate here) and appeared on BBC Leeds Drive 92.4FM on September 5th. We're still looking for that interview so hold tight, but there is an image left. He also took fan questions, as we reported on twitter,  a few days ago and a video can be seen below while the transcript can be found here once you donate or on the Leeds Rugby Twitter:

In other cast news, as we have reported, Evanna Lynch is to star in her first play, Houdini about the life and wife (played by Evanna) of famed magician Harry Houdini. The touring run officially started last night and prior to this she sat down for an interview with the Irish Times newspaper to talk about it. A snippit is below and the ful article can be read at the Irish Times:
When she reflects on it now, she can talk with some perspective about her life changing instantly. “I got a lot of independence,” she begins, mentioning how school became tutoring in England. “At 16 I was living by myself and getting up and going to work and all that, and doing school. So there was that juggling of normal life and adult life, like working in the real world.” Her friends didn’t change, her family didn’t either, but people were “more interested in me, I suppose . . . I think the biggest change was personally, I had to come out of myself.” She wasn’t too great at being herself. Interviews were a disaster, she’d just sit there, scared and answer “yes?” “I didn’t know how to ‘be’. It really scared me.”
The news comes from Magical Menagerie, however this link was also posted by my fb friend, her sister Emily.

Finally, in John Hurt news, He has spoken about franchises in line with his new role in Doctor Who and mentions Potter. Furthermore, he has narrated More Than Honey which is out in the UK now. Check here for listings.

Matthew Lewis Interviews: Wasteland Promo and Talks About Documentary He's Involved In

As we previously reported, Matt Lewis appeared on the Leeds airwaves on Rugby Am, yet there is still no audio, however there are pictures (one left) and a new interview with Vulture Magazine.
In the interview he talks about Wasteland and that little documentary he's involved in that we told you about. We assumed it was in a voice-over way he was involved but not so sure now!

Did you and your new castmates [for Wasteland] get together before you filmed to build a camaraderie?
We absolutely did. It was one of the first things Rowen [Athale, the writer-director] said to me in our first meeting. He said he’d written the script, but from his own perspective — there is only so much dialogue you can write, especially when it comes to that kind of banter [in the movie], which comes really naturally. So there was a lot of ad-libbing we did together. Rowen was very keen on us improvising some scenes and wanted us all to be good pals. I think a lot of the budget went to us drinking before shooting. We went around Leeds, I had a few of the lads over to my house to play poker and have a few beers. Just becoming familiar with each other, really, so when we had these scenes we could take the piss out of each other and be as comfortable and funny as possible.

You tweeted very mysteriously recently about lending your voice to a new documentary, Knight’s Club.
What more can you say about that? It’s going to be on BBC, it’s about the medieval reenactments in France every year. But it’s not just dressing up and having a bit of fun — it’s full combat with swords and shields and full armor. There’s broken bones and blood and it’s insane. This year, Team U.K. entered for the first time. It’s about these four guys from very different backgrounds and parts of the U.K. who come together to make this first-ever team. They get a bit of a battering, but it’s very fun.
Check out the full interview here.

There is also a new Wasteland featurette which can be seen below:

More info about the UK release of Wasteland can be read in the Matt part of this post.
