Oscars Rundown-Disappointing Show for Potter

Snitchseeker, Magical Menagerie and Mugglenet had been live tweeting throughout my GMT night from the 2012 Acadamy Awards and it is my disappointment to tell you: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 lost out in all 3 categories it was nominated in; Visual Effects, Makeup and Art Direction.

In other news Dan has been (finally) speaking out about the OSCAR Snub this year and Snitchseeker posted some new For Your Consideration posters,which I will post shortly on the facebook.
Mugglenet was the first to post Dan's annoyance at the Acadamy's "snobbery". I will post the quotes from Radio Times,as reported on by The Guardian below;

"I don't think the Oscars like commercial films, or kids' films, unless they're directed by Martin Scorsese. I was watching Hugo the other day and going, 'Why is this nominated and we're not?' I was slightly miffed. There's a certain amount of snobbery. It's kind of disheartening. I never thought I'd care. But it would've been nice to have some recognition, just for the hours put in."

Finally, Various cast members attended the 2012 London Evening Standard British Film Awards. Snitchseeker posted some pics which can be found here. AND....WE WON!
Magical Menagerie reported the following;

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II won the Blockbuster of the Year, People’s Choice Award. Additionally, John Hurt, who plays Ollivander in the Potter films, was honored with the Alexander Walker Special Award for his contribution to film."

In other notable figures, The Woman in Black has achieved a greater opening day figure than first anticipated, Mugglenet have announced.

Great news! Mugglenet are reporting that Deathly Hallows Part 2 has been mentioned in another Oscar category; this time in the shortlist for Best Makeup. It is up against films like Anonymous, Hugo, The Iron Lady and The Artist.
Personally, as regards life-altering makeup, The Iron Lady is the biggest contender.
