Potter alumni: Brendan Gleeson and more nominated BIFA Awards, first trailer for Domhnall Gleeson's Ex Machina

The nominations for the British Independent Film Awards have been released and as an Irish person I'm proud to see Brendan Gleeson (Mad-Eye) among the nominees for Best actor with both his project Calvary Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley's) project Frank (both with Irish directors who are also nominated) in the Best Film category. Also up for Best Actor is Wormtail actor Timothy Spall for Mr Turner. Also nominated is Tom Felton's Belle co-star  Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Umbridge actress Imelda Staunton for Pride.

In other Domhnall Gleeson news, the first trailer for his upcoming sci-fi thriller Ex Machina has appeared online. The film follows Gleeson's character Caleb "a coder for Nathan’s(Oscar Isaac) Google-like search giant Bluebook, [who] wins the opportunity to spend a week with [him and his AI creation Ava as] a kind of human guinea pig for his boss’s experiment .. trying to establish whether this machine is conscious or not...at his Alaskan mountain retreat."
